Fused Glass
Fused glass is the process of cutting compatible¹ glass, piecing it together and putting it in a kiln. Once you set it up in the kiln, you fire the project(s) to various temperatures to achieve the effect that you are looking for. Glass frit (ground glass), glass enamels, pre-made glass elements and a knowledge of temperatures are all part of the finished project. I love the fact that fusing glass makes functional art along with testing my imagination of what can be accomplished. The classes I offer are also a fun aspect of the art.
¹ Compatable glass refers to the properties of glass that allow it to be heat-bonded with another glass such as in a kiln.
